Through it all

NORSK
From the moment I heard an Andrae Crouch song, it was love at first “listening”. I have used his songs in personal devotion, in youth choirs and in public meetings, and I have translated several of them into Icelandic.

It is hard to pick out a favourite, because there are so many pearls. ‘My tribute’ with the refrain ‘To God be the glory’, lifts me to heaven in praise and worship. However, when I heard him sing “Through it all” after he became severely ill, it is not longer about a song, but a life lived to glorify God.

“Through it all” was the first thing I thought of when I read today’s greeting to Timothy:

But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.
2 Tim 3:10-11
Paul says at least two important things in these verses:
  • The Lord has been with him and delivered him through it all
  • Timothy has followed him through it all
Both statements are good, simply because it is a tough mission we are part of, and we need support from the Lord, but also from each other. We are in reality, and not only in theory, the Lord’s body in the world today. We need one another.

‘Manna’ for today:

The Lord is with us through it all!

Listen to his testimony from 1975 where he also sings Through it all

Here is the last verse and refrain

I thank God for the mountains,
and I thank Him for the valleys,
I thank Him for the storms He brought me through.
For if I’d never had a problem,
I wouldn’t know God could solve them,
I’d never know what faith in God could do.
Through it all,
through it all,
I’ve learned to trust in Jesus,
I’ve learned to trust in God.
Through it all,
through it all,
I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.
